Since 2012 Maurice van Es makes books out of houses.
With Rooms of Now people can ask me to make a book of their house.
Photographs of the doorhandle, the carpet and other characteristic details
of the space will be brought together in a book.

Through this project I investigate the value of the book
(and depicted objects in the photographs) as a personal time document
that refers to an era in someones life.
I wonder what these books can mean to someone a few years later.
And historically I'm interested in what they can mean two or three hundred years later.

All books are made in edition of one, plus one artist proof.
The collection now contains 23 books.
